Barolo Vigneto Rocche 2001 |
|
$ 64.50 USD
This Domaine will sadly be splitting in two as from the 2003 vintage,
the Corino brothers Renato and Giuliano going their separate ways.
Renato aged the 2004s in the estate’s original cellars but will have
completed his own by the time the 2005s come along. These are some of
the most successful Barolos in what is a very great vintage. Pure,
linear and precise wines, they demonstrate all that is beautiful about
La Morra and the 2001 vintage. Giuliano regards 2000 a very good
vintage, too, “it has all of the virtues of the 1997s without the
vices, being generous and seductively ripe but more restrained and with
higher acids.

Barolo Arborina 2004 |
|
$ 70.80 USD
Wonderful sweet fruit aromas, rich and
powerful, an intense savoury concentration of flavour underlays a
palate bursting with racy, mouth-watering small berry flavours, notes
of forest and summer fruit, and crushed, ripe currants, supported by a
firm but ripe tannic backbone. Superb.

Barolo Vecchie Vigne 2001 |
|
$ 126.55 USD
The Vecchie Vigne is a blend of old vines from
Rocche and Giachini aged in more new oak than for the regular Crus,
about 80% for the 2001. This is a colossal, full-blooded wine that
strikes an excellent balanced between richness and acidity. It offers
bold but precise flavours of blackberry and chocolate, aswell as
fresher red fruit suggestions, with notes of oak spice on the finish.
