The Azienda Agricola Monti is located in Monforte d'Alba, in the
heart of the langhe hills. The estate was founded in 1996, when Pier
Paolo Monti purchased a few vineyards in the area as well as the
adjacent farmstead, and built the winery on the latter's premises. Our
vineyards are all within the heart of Barolo region, a finest area in
the South of Piedmont, at 400m above sea-level. The vineyards
of Bussia, San Martino, Val di Sacco, Camie, Chiese, are all within the
Monforte commune and cover a total of approximately 10 hectares (25
acres) and 6 varieties: Barbera d'Alba, Nebbiolo destined for Barolo,
Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot which go into Monti's Dossi Rossi Langhe
DOC, and two white grapes, Riesling Renano (Rheinriesling) and
Chardonnay, which make up the white Langhe DOC, L'Aura. Our
soils, prevalently clayey and calcareous with medium mixture and sand
nuance, have esterly, south-easterly, south-westerly exposures. The
continental climate of Langhe hills becomes mild thanks to the Tanaro
river. Different exposures and altitudes of hills give to our wines an
heterogeneus variability of results. In the course of our
history we have bought estates with southerly, south-easterly,
south-westerly exposures, essential for a correct maturation of grapes. Attentive vineyard management, modern vinification and meticulous élevage yield a range of characterful, top-quality wines.
