After the estate was divided at the beginning of 2006 between the two Corino brothers, Giuliano maintained the original homestead and cellars. This winery exclusively produces the single vineyard Barolo Vigna Giachini and a Nebbiolo Langhe, while the regular Barolo, Barolo Arborina, Barolo Vecchie Vigne, Dolcetto and Barbera are made by both estates. Giuliano also kept the original design of the labels. Giuliano and Renato are certainly among the most talented winemakers of the new generation and the combination of owning top La Morra crus and extremely scrupulous practices in the vineyard and in the cellar ensure the release of outstanding wines.Barolo Vigna Giachini is intense and opulent, vibrant with fruit and the vanilla-cedar aromas that oak confers. In my opinion Giachini is the most representative cru of the Annunziata sub-zone of La Morra. It displays all the trademarks of this splendid vineyard area: fragrance and length, soft supple tannins and a fullbodied generosity dressed in flawless austerity. A profound wine. Barolo Vecchie Vigne, “old vines” in Italian, is produced from Nebbiolo of the oldest vines in each vineyard, although it is mainly made from Giachini in this estate. This is an extraordinary wine by any standard exalting the grandeur of the Giachini area to the hilt! An unforgettable wine and one that wants aging. The Dolcetto and Barbera are all wonderful, well crafted and exciting wines - full, fruity, fat and exuberant. Giuliano will continue to produce l’Insieme, a blend of Barbera, Nebbiolo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. |
